POSCO Future M received ministerial commendations from three government ministries for its contributions to export promotion, environmental protection, and safety accident prevention.

Jung Han-seok, Head of Technology Planning Group, received the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s commendation for enhancing production capacity and accelerating overseas exports at the Pohang cathode materials plant.

POSCO Future M improved production capacity and quality through process optimization initiatives last year. It also contributed to export expansion by commencing full-scale operations of its dedicated NCA cathode materials plant three months ahead of schedule in October.

Jung Dong-gil, Head of Gwangyang Safety Environment Group, received commendations from the Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Employment and Labor for environmental protection and safety accident prevention.

The company contributed to establishing government environmental policy standards through close collaboration while constructing wastewater treatment facilities at its Gwangyang cathode materials plant. It was also recognized for developing magnesium hydroxide for water and air pollution control.

The Gwangyang cathode materials plant was recognized for strengthening accident prevention by adopting smart safety technologies. The plant implemented safety-related short-form content accessible via QR codes for real-time video verification at specific locations. It introduced the ‘Smart Safety Ball*,’ a spherical portable multi-gas detector that POSCO developed to reduce risks in confined space operations.

*Smart Safety Ball: A 60mm diameter, 100g portable multi-gas detector developed by POSCO in 2021. It pre-measures oxygen and hazardous gas levels in confined spaces and transmits real-time data to workers, supervisors, and control rooms via smartphone connectivity.

POSCO Future M plans to enhance its manufacturing competitiveness through stable operations and innovative productivity improvements at new plants in Pohang and Gwangyang this year while establishing robust ESG management systems for environmental protection and safe working conditions.
